Thorn builds technology to defend children from sexual abuse. We join forces across law enforcement, technology partners and nonprofits to help identify victims, stop the spread of child sexual abuse material, and stand up against their offenders.
Securing major gifts: As a Major Gifts Officer/Endowed Fund Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to grow our donor community by being our “boots on the ground” on the west coast. Our high asset donor community, the Defenders Circle, is made up of a dynamic group of individuals, family foundations, and institutional funders focused on ending child sexual abuse. These incredible individuals have made a substantial financial commitment to Thorn, and a significant promise to the children we work on behalf of. The majority of your time will we spent cultivating and securing gifts from a robust pipeline of prospects, as well as identifying new Defenders Circle members.
Managing our Endowed Fund: This position also includes a critical role in building and managing Thorn’s Endowed Fund which enables us to receive pledges of equity or pre-IPO stock.
Location: We are looking for someone who lives in the Bay Area, but feels comfortable with managing donor relationships in any major west coast city where we have prospects and donors.
The team: You will join a seven-person development team. This role reports to the Director of Development and works closely with two other Major Gifts Officers, our Grants Manager, and a Development Associate. An ideal candidate has managed a variety of major donor relationships and is looking for a role where they can lead their area of work and work autonomously but in sync with the development team.
We are looking for someone who will be quick to inspire and collaborate directly with your colleagues, donors, and Thorn partners. Adapting quickly to new circumstances and bringing an open-minded, resourceful approach to roadblocks is a must.
We have a passionate team dedicated to doing everything we can to eliminate child sexual abuse from the internet. This is a unique role on that team that is perfect for someone who flourishes without a script, with demonstrated success in leading major giving relationships, and who can deliver strong relationships and results.
