The International Focusing Institute

Drupal 8 Manager and Content Editor Trainer

Remote Position

The International Focusing Institute is an international, cross-cultural organization dedicated to supporting individuals and groups world-wide who are practicing, teaching and developing Focusing and its underlying philosophy.

We are seeking a Drupal 8 Power User who has both technical skills and people skills. This is a 12-month contract position, with the possibility of permanent hire.

On the technical side, this position includes managing Drupal 8; installing and configuring modules; managing and troubleshooting Drupal 8 Features. You will be trained by our webmaster in the integrated constituent management system, CiviCRM, so existing familiarity with CiviCRM will be a plus.

On the people side, you will be organizing our volunteer content editors, teaching content editors how to use Drupal 8 in their content areas. You will work with the Executive Director to determine policies to guide the content editors regarding what kind of content should be included. The position includes being a resource person for when the volunteer content editors need to troubleshoot.

Our volunteer content editors are from various cultures around the world who are not native English speakers. We are seeking someone who can speak in clear layperson’s terms and train them on how to use Drupal 8 to do their content editing. You will also be asked to help staff members use Drupal 8 effectively.

  • Be a Drupal 8 “Power User” — required
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a love for helping others understand
  • Great team player; able to work cooperatively with other staff and stay in communication
  • Flexibility and quick learner
  • Task-oriented; able to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in a language(s) other than English is desirable but not required
  • Knowledge of CiviCRM is desirable but not required

We have recently launched our new site and we are in need of someone to take substantial action to help our webmaster correct issues with Drupal 8. In the short term, this will include being our “first line of defense” on tech support requests. Therefore, in the first several weeks, there will be a minimum of 10 hours a week needed, but we prefer up to 40 hours a week until problems are resolved. The position will taper down over the course of the year as content editors get trained. We will assess every month the anticipated hours for the month to come and find mutually-agreeable arrangements.

We need someone who will have time during the day to work via video-conferencing sessions with the webmaster or other staff.

Although this is a remote position, you must have the ability to be legally employable in the U.S.
